More Than Three Decades of Speaking, Communication & Magic

ABOUT ROBERT IAN

SPEAKER. MAGICIAN. COMMUNICATOR.

For more than three decades, Robert Ian has built a career around one fundamental idea: change the way people think, and you can begin to change what’s possible. As a professional speaker, author, business communicator, and magician, Robert has delivered more than 3,000 live presentations worldwide, combining substantive ideas with interaction, humor, and extraordinary Illusions of the Mind™ to create presentations audiences don’t simply hear — they experience. His clients have included GE, Blue Cross, Sysco, 3M, AT&T, Subway, and hundreds of other corporations, associations, and organizations. His audiences have included business leaders, international celebrities, political leaders, and Olympic athletes.

Robert Ian reads minds, captures thoughts, bends reality — and gets your audience thinking in new ways about work, life and success.

A CAREER BUILT AROUND CHANGE.

Robert began his professional speaking career exploring ideas that remain remarkably relevant today: how people respond to change, how our thinking shapes performance, and how individuals and organizations can prepare for what’s coming next. He is the author of How to Identify, Master and Conquer Change™ and founder of Change Management International, a U.S.-based research, consulting, and communications firm established to monitor business, economic, and world changes helping organizations understand and respond to rapidly changing environments. That work became the foundation for decades of speaking and content development addressing change, leadership, communication, performance, and the power of the mind. Robert has appeared on ABC, CBS, NBC and FOX, and his work has extended across speaking, broadcasting, podcasting, executive communications, strategic marketing, and business consulting. As President of the Wisconsin Chapter of the National Speakers Association, Robert received the chapter’s first Visionary Award, recognizing his leadership and contribution to the organization.

Early in his career, Robert was introduced to world-renowned motivational speaker Zig Ziglar.

Robert brings the principles of How To Identify, Master & Conquer Change™ to today’s audiences.

THE POWER OF YOUR MIND.

Long before “mindset” became a familiar business term, Robert was exploring a broader question: What becomes possible when we change the way we think? That question has connected much of his work throughout his career. The mind determines what we notice, what we believe, how we respond to change, how we communicate, how we lead, and—perhaps most importantly—what we believe is possible in the first place. Today, those ideas form part of the foundation of Robert’s Magic Beyond Tomorrow™ Keynote Experience, built around three broad territories: change, leadership, and the power of your mind. The specific message can be adapted to the audience and objectives of the meeting, allowing Robert to draw from decades of established material while maintaining a consistent underlying proposition: challenge your perception of what’s possible, and new possibilities can become achievable.

Robert produced and hosted a television infomercial introducing his first publication, Expanding the Power of Your Mind™.

WHY MAGIC?

For Robert, magic isn’t simply entertainment added to a speech. It’s part of the message. An audience member thinks of something Robert seemingly could not know—and he reveals it. A prediction made moments earlier proves impossibly accurate. A seemingly free decision leads to an outcome no one expected. For a moment, something the audience believes cannot happen—happens. That creates a powerful metaphor for change, leadership, and human possibility. The magic captures attention, creates laughter, and brings an audience together. The message challenges people to reconsider assumptions, perceptions, and limitations that may influence what happens after they leave the room. They’re entertained by what appears impossible—and challenged to reconsider what might actually be possible.

An impossible moment creates laughter, connection, and an experience your audience shares together.

MAGIC BEYOND TOMORROW™

Robert’s keynote philosophy is built around the idea that there are three kinds of magic. The Magic of Today represents the technologies, systems, strategies, and skills that help people and organizations compete more effectively and create a competitive advantage. The Magic of Tomorrow looks toward emerging innovations, ideas, and solutions that can create a strategic or first-mover advantage. And then there is:

The Magic BEYOND Tomorrow™ — the point of origin inside the mind where assumptions are challenged, possibilities are imagined, and the future can be anticipated early enough to act upon it in advance. It’s the difference between asking: “How do we compete?” and starting to ask: What can we see, imagine or anticipate that others haven’t yet? That’s where Robert believes the real magic begins.

Magic Beyond Tomorrow™ challenges audiences to look beyond what is—and imagine what comes next.

A MESSAGE DESIGNED AROUND THE MEETING.

Robert also understands that every meeting has a different purpose. A substantive keynote may call for a significant exploration of ideas supported by magic, interaction, and humor. A sales, leadership, conference kickoff, or closing program may require a different balance of content and entertainment. An after-dinner program may call primarily for laughter, audience participation, and extraordinary magic—with a lighter message providing an uplifting conclusion. Rather than forcing every audience into the same presentation, Robert adjusts the balance of message and magic to fit the meeting. The objective remains the same: create an experience that engages people in the moment and gives them something worth remembering afterward.

Every audience is different. Every meeting has an objective. Robert adapts the message to both.

FROM THE STAGE TO YOUR RECEPTION.

Robert’s work doesn’t end at the edge of the stage. As a professional magician, he also performs interactive close-up magic, mind magic, and sleight-of-hand illusion for receptions, private dinners, hospitality suites, VIP gatherings, and special events. Instead of asking everyone to stop what they’re doing and watch a formal show, Robert can bring the experience directly to the guests—moving naturally through a reception or performing at a dinner table. It’s a different application of the same ability that has defined his career: engaging people, creating connection, and turning an ordinary moment into something they’ll talk about long after the show is over.

Up close, Robert turns small-group magic into conversation, connection, and shared experience.

EXPERIENCE MEETS POSSIBILITY.

Across more than three decades and thousands of appearances, Robert Ian has worked at the intersection of ideas and experience. Speaker. Author. Business communicator. Professional magician. Each discipline contributes something different. Together, they allow Robert to create live experiences that can inform, challenge, entertain, and connect an audience in ways a conventional speaking presentation—or entertainment program—often cannot.

More than three decades of experience—and still exploring what’s possible next.

“Anticipate the future. Act on it in advance.”  ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️   Robert Ian
